Time for a new timing belt? Want the confidence of top quality parts and a truly professional job?
Then come to The Torque Team for a new timing belt. We fit only the very best timing belt kits and we have the skills and experience to do the job properly, first time, every time.
The time belt system an important part of your engine. Using a toothed belt, tensioner, pulleys and one or more idlers, the system drives the camshafts and valves “in-time” with the pistons and crankshaft, so that the valves open and close at the right time. In most engines, a timing belt failure will cause the pistons to strike the valves, resulting in bent or broken valves and possible piston damage. Repairs can easily run into many thousands of dollars.
To prevent failure, timing belts and their associated components need to be changed regularly, normally between every 80,000 km to 120,000 km, or around every five years (depending on make and model of engine). On some engines this can be a simple one hour job. But on other engines where the belt system is inaccessible, the job may take up to 10 hours and require special tools to do the job properly.
Has your engine got timing chain isues? As engine specialists, we can quickly and accurately diagnose timing chain issues and offer a fast and effective repair service. Remember, we fit timing chains to every engine we rebuild, so changing one in your car is a routine job at The Torque Team.
Instead of a time belt, some engines use a chain and sprocket system to drive the camshafts instead. They also use a series of plastic guides and one or more tensioners to ensure the chain remains in the correct position on the sprockets. Unlike timing belts, timing chains are usually designed to last the life of the engine, and should not need regular changing.
But there are some engines, such as some Nissan four cylinder diesels and Holden V6 petrol engines, where the timing chain system can prematurely fail and need replacing. Symptoms can include a distinct rattle from the engine, rough or uneven running, failure to idle and/or an engine light on the dash, possibly indicating a camshaft timing problem. If this happens to your engines, we have both the expertise and equipment to fix the problem.
